About Lee:
“Gets the crowd roaring!” –Rolling Stone

NYC-based comedian Lee Camp is a contributor to the Onion and he has appeared on The Green Room with Paul Provenza. He was a featured performer on Comedy Central’s “Fresh Debate,” and he’s done comedic commentary on “Countdown with Keith Olbermann,” BBC’s “Newsnight,” PBS, E!Network, SpikeTV, MTV, and ABC’s Good Morning America. Lee is featured in the recent bestseller “Satiristas!” along with George Carlin, Bill Maher, and Stephen Colbert. Lee also provided catharsis for millions of people when he went live on Fox News and called the network a “parade of propaganda and a festival of ignorance.”
What others are saying:
  • “This up-and-coming US star is already developing a reputation for fearless political comedy, with some calling him an heir to the crown of the late, great George Carlin. ….He gets our seal of approval.” –Time Out Sydney
  •  “Lee Camp is an amazing writer and a great political thinker. He’s the change you and I want to see.” –Janeane Garofalo
  • “Like Jon Stewart from the Daily Show but with sharper teeth.” –the Herald
  • “Smart, clever, wonderful.” –Dick Gregory
  • “Super impressive.” –Roseanne Barr
  • “For those comedy fans still in mourning for Bill Hicks 18 years on, you’ll find plenty to enjoy in the work of DC-born stand-up Lee Camp. Like Hicks, Camp has a visceral disregard for big business and big politics, and speaks his mind on everything from abortion rights to the evils of the modern media. However, where Hicks was more of a commentator who stayed above the fray, Camp is much closer to British activist-comics like Mark Thomas, a real-life serial protester.” –The Guardian
  • "I wanted to say three things about Mr Camp that really remind me of my father, one of which is he is a thinking persons’ comic, he may just piss you off a little bit, but the most important thing is he's really fucking funny!" - Kelly Carlin
Lee Camp comes to Pittsburgh one night only to Hambone’s in Lawrenceville, February 1, 2013 at 8:30pm. Comedian Ron Placone opens the show and the evening will be hosted by Krish Mohan.

Finding the Funny: Book Discussion, Below Average Genius, with Mike Buzzelli

Mike Buzzelli will discuss his book, Below Average Genius, a collection of humor essays from his column in the Observer-Reporter in Washington County.
Saturday, January 26th, 2013 at 12:30pm
Andrew Carnegie Free Library & Music Hall

Join us for an informative and fun talk by author, Mike Buzzelli, “Finding the Funny – How to create comedy from daily life events.” Mike Buzzelli’s nonfiction book, Below Average Genius, is a collection of narrative essays culled from his weekly humor column at Observer-Reporter newspaper in Washignton County. Each essay is a brisk, humorous tale about ordinary, daily situations blown up ridiculously big. At a little over 40,000 words, this collection of essays plunks the mundane under the microscope and examines it from a bizarre perspective. Subjects such as misunderstood song lyrics, road rage, reality television and the detritus of human life are all fodder for the rantings and ravings of an admittedly unhinged mind.

PITTSBURGH, PA, December 14, 2012—Pittsburgh comedy fans once again have the opportunity to laugh loudly and often while providing much-needed help to the hungry in the Pittsburgh area. After a two-year hiatus Comedy Relief-Pittsburgh XI will be back to showcase the best of Pittsburgh talent for a great cause at the new Mullen’s North Shore showroom. Comedy Relief-Pittsburgh X! will kick off a new 2013 comedy series Wohlfarth’s company, Wolfie’s Comedy, will be producing the comedy series that will feature Comic Wars for most of the shows and feature the return of Mark Lundholm’s
www.marklundholm.com clean and sober Show on February 22nd and 23rd. Last year, Mark “alcohol free” show sold out two shows and this year we added a Friday show that is open to everyone. Wolfie's will conclude the series with Mitch Hedberg's Birthday Party on Sunday, February 24, 2013, which will help celebrate the late, great comedian's birthday with local comedians doing jokes they wrote that would work for Mitch. Also, there will be a Mitcheoke part of the show where comedian can just do their favorite Mitch Hedburg bit or a story they have of working with Mitch. The Mitch Hedberg birthday party should be a great end to this innovative comedy series. All proceeds from the Mitch show will go to Children's Hospital, “since Mitch was in many ways a kid himself,” according to Wohlfarth.

Upstairs at Mullen’s is an intimate 125 seat comedy venue with excellent sound and not a bad seat in the house.

Matt Wohlfarth, a Pittsburgh-based comedian and comedy writer, announces that Comedy Relief Pittsburgh X!: Standup to Hunger will be held on Friday January 4th at Mullen’s North Shore,200 Federal Street on the North Shore. This year’s show is the eleventh installment of his annual series of shows to benefit the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.

“This is one night where you can catch up on the best of Pittsburgh new and not so new comedy talent in two great shows,” says Wohlfarth. Wohlfarth consulted with up and coming comedian Aaron Kleiber to find the hardest working comedians on the burgeoning comedy scene. Wohlfarth says,”Aaron Kleiber has been a big part of the uptick in comedy in Pittsburgh. He organizes many of these open mikes that let young comedians get valuable stage time.”

This year, two shows are scheduled—at 8:00p.m. and 10:00 p.m. Admission is $25 per person in advance and $30 at the door, and tickets are available at www.wolfiescomedy.com

Wohlfarth will emcee both shows.

Every year Wohlfarth handpicks several of the Pittsburgh area’s funniest comics will appear on the bills. Also performing will be a recent graduate of the University of Funny, 13-year old standup comedian Richie Raida.

About The Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank
Since June 1980, Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank has rescued, diverted, bought, traded for, and distributed more than 300 million pounds of food, delivering it to tens of thousands of people in need each month throughout 11 counties in southwestern Pennsylvania. The Food Bank has enlisted and established a community-based legion of more than 400 food pantries, smaller regional food banks, homeless shelters, after school programs, and senior centers to connect people to the food they need to survive. With a mission to feed the hungry in southwestern Pennsylvania through a network of partners and to mobilize the region to end hunger, the Food Bank and its member agencies serve 120,000 people (including 37,000 children, 16,000 senior citizens, and 17,000 people who have been laid off or who are disabled).

The Food Bank inspires supporters to be vocal advocates with elected officials and the community, helping to frame the conversation locally, statewide, and nationally about who is hungry and why hunger, a social problem, has a direct impact on the health and wellness of the greater community. With new leadership in place, the Food Bank is now guided by a strategic vision that aims to increase efficiency, strengthen the network of food assistance agencies, communicate and advocate to a wider audience, and focus more resources on the health and wellness of the people who rely on the Food Bank for help each month.
