Dodge Intrepid and the Pages of Time at the Cabaret Theater: March 31, 2012

Live Radio Adventure Debuts New Episode with Expanded Cast
“Curse of the Book Thief” offers up a fun mystery starring talented
local voice actors.

Treating audiences to peculiar conflicts, plucky heroes, and pulpy
villains, “Curse of the Book Thief” is the next installment of the
serial radio play known as Dodge Intrepid and the Pages of Time, which
follows the adventures of a time-traveling librarian. In “Book Thief,”
the titular hero, Dodge, is in a cat-and-mouse-chase for a major
factory’s stolen recipe book in this imagined 1940s Pittsburgh. This
time around, writer/creators James Catullo and Michael Rubino have
added a female actor to the cast in order to more fully bring to life
this colorful world and the humorous characters that fill it. This
live radio comedy is one night only on March 31 at 10:30pm in downtown
Pittsburgh, at the Cabaret at Theater Square, where tickets are sold
at the door for $5.

Harking back to the golden age of radio, Dodge Intrepid and the Pages
of Time offers the over-the-top adventure and death-defying danger of
serials like The Shadow or The Green Hornet. Because the show is
written by and stars improvisational comedians, humor is front and
center. Writers Catullo and Rubino, originally from Beaver County
where the show first premiered, along with their third cast member,
Pittsburgh actor Michael Hinzman, have regaled audiences with the
daring exploits of Dodge Intrepid, the librarian hero, and Pluck
Gumption, his intern sidekick, since 2005. The show mixes adventure,
local history, and comedy in a unique spin on an old art form. With a
resurgence of interest in classic radio programs across the region,
Dodge Intrepid joins Bricolage’s popular Midnight Radio series at the
forefront of the movement.

“Curse of the Book Thief,” continues Dodge Intrepid’s run at the
Cabaret at Theater Square, a venue well-suited for the light-hearted,
high-adventure radio conventions of the show. For this installment,
the original cast of Rubino, Catullo and Hinzman is joined by Abby
Fudor, Pittsburgh comedic actor and arts manager. Fudor has performed
improv comedy at various venues throughout Pittsburgh. She is a
founding member of Frankly Scarlett, where she serves as an actor,
writer, and producer for this all-female variety act. Fudor will play
the show’s new heroine character, Fairlane, amongst other voices.

Dodge Intrepid and the Pages of Time began as a side project for
Rubino and Catullo, both members of the Beaver County comedy troupe
The Cellar Dwellers. The duo, both writers and radio-lovers, have
produced over 50 episodes and have appeared at the Cabaret at Theater
Square three times in the past six months. Recently, the series has
re-launched their podcast, which features live and studio recordings
of all their serialized adventures, available at and the iTunes Music Store.
