The death of legendary Penn State football coach Joe Paterno is very, very sad. The scandal that clouded his final months is downright tragic. I have drawn cartoons critical of how he and Penn State dealt with the pedophile scandal. I stand by those cartoons. But whatever you may think about how JoePa handled (or mishandled) Sanduskygate, you can't argue with his successes on and off the field.
Pennsylvania governor Tom Corbett is trying to save money by rooting out fraud in the food stamp program, despite the fact that PA has one of the lowest rates of food stamp fraud in the nation. While food stamp reform may seem noble, the reality is it is an attack on working families who are trying to make ends meet.
Newt is outraged at the media for asking him questions about his extramarital affairs, but he has no trouble engaging in racist name-calling, dubbing Obama the "food stamp president." Racism and media bashing both play well to the GOP base. Romney, on the other hand, is having trouble getting conservatives on his side.
